kJams Lite 1.0 d49 Description
There isn't a great deal of karaoke software for Macs and even fewer that actually allow you to burn karaoke CDs.
kJams (formerly known as kTunes) can Rip, Mix, Play and Burn CD+G format discs in a very easy to use iTunes style interface. kJams allows you to create playlists, sort tracks by name, artist, album etc and much more. If you've already ripped some MP3+G files, kJams allows you to import them along with standard formats such as QuickTime, KAR, MIDI and Vorbis.
kJams also allows you to edit the music itself although this is largely limited to simply changing the pitch. However, it also enables you to show graphics on a 2nd monitor or TV to give your karaoke creations a real professional touch. Or, you can even export your CD+G karaoke videos to QuickTime, iPod & iPhone format too.
Note that this version of kJams is the Lite version. If you want a little more control over management of your playlists, the Pro version allows individual singers to manage their favorites and track history and manage a "Rotation" smart playlist that interleaves upcoming singers automatically.
There are two main drawbacks to kJams however. One is that most drives don't automatically support CD+G discs and you need a a burning plugin to do so which costs you $40. Secondly, you'll have to do quite a bit of research to see if the plugin works with your drive before you purchase it although a full list of supported drives (which doesn't include Superdrives) can be found on the developer site.
If you're a serious karaoke professional or have your own karaoke club, kBurns is one of the only options out there for you to burn karaoke videos.
