DivX 6.0 Description

DivX is the worldwide codec standard behind many of those compressed videos that are legally or otherwise downloaded from the net.

Of course, there are now hundreds of players out there that play DivX but whichever you use, your files need to be encoded in DivX to work properly. The only way to do this is to run them through a converter such as DivX 6 which converts your files to the latest version of the DivX standard. DivX 6 does this plus it allows you to convert films to watch on DivX certified devices.

DivX 6 includes free trial versions of the DivX Pro Codec (a 6-month trial) and DivX Converter (15-day trial). To upgrade to the full version (swankily named "DivX Pro") you have to pay $15,99. The benefit of this is that the full version of DivX 6 also lets you create and play full HD H.264 (MKV) videos. H.264 is a new standard that offers high definition video with incredible visual quality, performance and efficiency.

DivX 6 takes DivX to new levels of quality although since so many other players now playback DivX, the price to upgrade will put off many.
